"Caring for your Soul is the ultimate form of 'self-care'"
Every morning start to the day with 5-20 min of self-reflection and meditation and end the day with a recount of your blessings and positives in your day. Ask: what's my intention for today? What are the ways I contributed/made a difference for the better?
Reading exercises the brain. Take time to bask in your favorite story. Learn something new. Discover different perspectives; explore the unknown and necessary.
Journal complements reading. The constant churning of knowledge and expression of thought is vital to our being. It's what makes us unique and adds depth to ourselves.
Break up the day with these soothing "just-a-minute" meditations. It's for all those who may not have the time for long-form meditations and require a quick check-in and way to bring ourselves back to our natural state of peace and well-being.
Dancing is an expression of the soul. No matter where or how you choose to do it -connecting with your body through movement is a way to add happy chemicals (endorphins and dopamine) to your day to day.
Socializing and interacting through Quality Connections and a supportive network of friends and family is a basic human need. This point is likely to be the most underrated, whose benefits enhance our longevity and energetic exchanges with those who ADD (vibrancy, color, and excitement) to our lives.
Practicing a hobby that revitalizes your spirit is a way to mix up your daily routine. Doing what we love is a way to make our souls happy.
We hear it often - exercise is a way to better health and longevity. But why is it vital to our soul? Exercise not only increases our stamina and well-being, it is also made of all the nutrients that keeps our soul afresh, revived, and anew. It's food for the soul.
Bask in nature - whether you live in a city or suburban-land, there's parks, trees, and other beautiful sites to see. Even if you're surrounded by concrete (hi to my fellow New Yorkers 👋🏼) you can find a nearby park or buy yourselves flowers (Miley did)! A fun exercise to do is pick a color and as you go for your daily walk notice the things that resemble your color for the day. Study them as if you've been tasked to paint their every curve and detail.
Lastly, unlike exercising, Resting & Recovering is a topic that's not spoken enough of. We live in a world that's in constant go-mode (unless we fall ill or hit the reset button). I've personally witnessed how a full night's rest can strengthen our memory, mood, and overall performance. Here's a recent article from Sleep Foundation highlighting more benefits that I hope you find as useful in your lives as I have found in mine.
